Summary

  • Based on the equipment the Pro is connecting to a HAVEN Controller during setup, HAVEN will suggest interlocking any non-blower equipment (e.g. outdoor damper, humidifier) with one piece of blower equipment (e.g. air handler, ventilating dehumidifier fan) to make sure the freshly treated air can be circulated in the zone effectively, enhancing any mitigation strategy in place. The purpose of this is to:

    • #1) Not cause harm when activating equipment (e.g. Being able to have safe humidification automations), and

    • #2) Make sure that when activating any non-blower equipment automation, they are being as effective as possible.

  • This will soon be skippable if the Pro needs to get out of the home promptly. They can leave and be assured that HAVEN’s default interlocks follow general building science best practices. Later, the technician or a service manager who understands what the homeowner is looking to achieve with the automations can review and modify all interlocks remotely from the Portal.

  • Can be added to old automations via Pro Portal or App.

Where to find interlocks?

  • In the HAVEN IAQ app / Install workflow AFTER connecting hardware to WiFi

Problems solved

  • Our previous way of connecting HAVEN devices did not allow for any equipment interlocking. Humidifiers, dehumidifiers, dampers, mechanical ventilation can come on without the help of an air handler, reducing the equipments' effectiveness or cause harm (e.g. steam humidifier is activated without a blower).

  • There could also be situations where these pieces of equipment could conflict with each other if there are multiple automations set up independently of each other. Basically, nothing was “aware” of each other, which could have caused unintended consequences. (e.g. humidifier and dehumidifier have conflicting setpoints)

Managing interlocks post-installation (inlcuding adding or editing interlocks to previously created equipment)

  • Open up the Pro Portal to the Customer Dwelling you want to manage interlocks for.
  • Go to the "Interlocks" tabScreen Shot 2024-09-18 at 14.27.49.pngScreen Shot 2024-09-18 at 14.26.55.png
  • If you want to change which non-blower equipment is connected to blower equipment, you can modify the interlocks, delete them or create new.
